Inspired by Maya Angelou’s writing in particular one line has carried itself throughout this collection, “nobody promised you a rose garden”. Encouraged to capture her own ‘rose garden’, locals have unbeknownst supplied her with beautifully nurtured edens. Capturing these images has created a meditation and way of dealing with the uncertainty of life and death. After the news of a close family members’ terminal illness she followed where her ‘eye’ took her. Filled with gratitude everyday of the stunning region and country she has found herself in, appreciating the small things has been a theme of twenty twenty, and one many of us can relate to.
